Management Team

OAT has been setting the standard in RFID for over half a decade and has assembled the industry's most respected team of experts. OAT has a world-class management team with extensive experience in RFID, early-stage software companies, and leading supply chain solution providers.

Michael G. George - President and CEO

As CEO of OATSystems, Michael George is responsible for setting the strategic direction and leading the company's transformation and growth in the rapidly emerging RFID market.

A well-recognized industry leader, Michael was most recently the CEO of Bowstreet, a pioneer in web-services, and leading provider of portal based SOA frameworks and pre-packaged composite applications, acquired by IBM in December of 2005. Prior to Bowstreet, George founded Interlynx Technology a leading provider of web- and voice-based human resource applications serving the Fortune 500. He directed a successful transformation from a custom development, consulting organization to a leading software products company. Interlynx was acquired by ProAct Technologies in December of 2000. Prior to Interlynx, George was a vice president and officer at TALX where he was instrumental in the company's path to a successful public offering in 1996.

Michael holds a bachelor's degree from Suffolk University where he now serves on the Board of Trustees, and is a graduate of the prestigious MIT Executive Management Program, Birthing of Giants.

Dr. Sanjay Sarma - Chief Scientist

Professor Sarma is credited with defining and developing many of the standards and technologies that form the foundation of the commercial RFID industry. He is a frequent industry speaker and serves on the Board of Governors of EPCGlobal, the worldwide standards body he helped create. Sanjay is also an associate professor of mechanical engineering at MIT. In 1999, he co-founded MIT's Auto-ID Center and has served as its Chairman of Research.

Professor Sarma was recently appointed a MacVicar Faculty Fellowship for excellence in undergraduate teaching at MIT. He is a recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the Cecil and Ida Green Career Development Chair at MIT, the Ferry Award, the Den Hartog Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Keenan Award for innovations in undergraduate education, the New England Business and Technology Award, the Boston Business Journal Top 40 Executive under 40 Award and was selected to Business Week's 'e.biz 25 Innovators' list. He has over 50 publications in computational geometry, virtual reality, manufacturing, CAD, RFID, security and embedded computing.

Professor Sarma received a Bachelors degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, a Masters degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.

Prasad Putta - Founder

Prasad Putta is a co-founder of OAT and leads the company’s business and technical strategic partnerships worldwide.

Prior to co-founding OAT in 2001, Prasad started Auripay, a company that provided secure, flexible e-commerce payment solutions. Auripay was sold to Cyota in 2001. Previously, he worked at i2 Technologies, innovating and implementing supply chain solutions.

Prasad holds a masters degree in mechanical engineering from MIT, and an undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras.

Dr. Venkat Krishnamurthy - Chief Technology Officer

In his role as CTO, Dr. Krishnamurthy is responsible for Engineering, which includes architecting and productizing OAT's industry-leading RFID framework software. Before joining OAT, Dr. Krishnamurthy was VP of Engineering at Metris, which provides hardware and software products for dimensional quality control for manufacturing industries. He previously founded Paraform (acquired by Metris) which created Digital Form Development software products for the Entertainment, Auto and Consumer Product industries. At Paraform, Venkat received a Technical Achievement Academy Award from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences for his pioneering inventions in the area of three-dimensional scanning software. Prior to Paraform, he founded Align (NASDAQ: ALGN), a technology innovator in the area of orthodontic appliances.

Dr. Krishnamurthy holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur where he was a President's Gold Medalist.

Steve Royal - Chief Financial Officer

Steve Royal has more than 25 years’ experience in rapidly growing or changing private, public and pre-IPO software, service and high-tech companies. Prior to joining OATSystems, he served as senior vice president and CFO of CXO Systems, Inc., a provider of real-time risk and operational intelligence software, acquired by Cisco Systems in November of 2006. Steve was also senior vice president and CFO of Net to Net Technologies, Inc., a provider of Ethernet-based IP broadband voice, data and video network access solutions, which was acquired by Paradyne Networks in August of 2004.

Previously, Steve was CFO and treasurer of Engage, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise marketing software and interactive media and a majority-owned operating company of CMGI. In this role, Steve was responsible for leading the company’s $100MM+ IPO and subsequent $75MM private placement funding. Steve also led Engage’s mergers and acquisitions initiative, resulting in the acquisition and integration of 10 companies with an aggregate market value in excess of $3.7 billion, in less than three years. Before joining Engage, Steve served in senior financial roles at Omega Performance Corporation and Arthur D. Little.

Steve holds an MBA from Saint Mary’s College and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Merrimack College.

James Clemens - Vice President of Sales

Jim Clemens is responsible for leading OATSystems’ direct and indirect sales and customer development activities. Prior to joining OATSystems, Jim served as VP of Sales at Frictionless Commerce, where the sales organization delivered significant revenue growth leading up to the acquisition of the company by SAP AG.

Previously, Jim held sales leadership positions with several enterprise technology companies during periods of significant growth, including ten years with Silicon Graphics and three years leading direct sales at Macromedia.

Jim graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

Paul Cataldo - Vice President of Marketing
A seasoned software industry executive with more than 20 years of experience, Paul has held a variety of senior technical and marketing positions in start-up and later stage organizations, including two of them in retail technology over the past 10 years. Prior to OATSystems, he served as vice president of marketing for IntelliVid Corporation, a provider of intelligent video analysis solutions for the retail industry. Before that, Paul served as the vice president of marketing for DataSage (acquired by Vignette), which provided customer analysis and personalization software to retail and e-commerce enterprises. In addition, he has held senior marketing positions with companies such as Borland International (client/server business unit) and SunGard Financial Systems.

Paul graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a bachelor’s degree in business.

Peg Kastner – Vice President, Professional Services and Support

Peg Kastner is responsible for leading OATSystems’ professional services team in implementing solutions that deliver solid business benefit for customers.

Peg has over 15 years’ experience in leadership roles in professional services and consulting services organizations in growing enterprise technology companies. Prior to joining OATSystems, she was responsible for service planning at Kronos, the leading provider of workforce management solutions. In this role, she led the organization responsible for developing and executing plans to expand the Service organization into new products and services, and for improving the overall efficiency, effectiveness and expertise of the service organization. Prior to Kronos, Peg led the professional services organization at TempoSoft, a provider of retail scheduling solutions, where she was responsible for building the US presence and professional services operations. Before joining TempoSoft, Peg led the professional services organization at Interlynx Technologies, a leading provider of web- and voice-based human resource applications serving the Fortune 500, where she led the services organization transformation from custom solutions to product-based implementations. Peg also spent ten years with CGI Information Systems and Management Consultants, a large Canadian IT consulting organization, where she held various technical and management positions.

Peg holds an MBA from Babson College, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Vermont.

Sridhar Ramachandran - Chief Architect & Co-founder

As OATSystems’ Chief Architect, Sridhar Ramachandran plays a key role in designing and developing the company’s technology. He also provides leadership in software architecture to the Engineering team.

Prior to co-founding OAT, Sridhar co-founded Auripay, a company that provided secure, flexible e-commerce payment solutions. Auripay was sold to Cyota in 2001. He also spent several years working at MIT on the design and development of a DNS-based global object tracking service, and building Savant, the open source systems at the heart of the Auto-ID Center's EPC network.

Sridhar received his masters in computer science from MIT, and holds an undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras.
